A Keighley man has expressed his disgust and frustration at the lack of a safe crossing of the Aire Valley Trunk Road between Silsden & Steeton

Responding to a Keighley News article about a ministerial visit to the proposed site for a pedestrian bridge, Bernard Sunderland says the lack of a bridge is a disgrace

In his letter he cites a police decision not to escort children across the road, such was the danger posed by the fast-moving traffic

Mr Sunderland says the dual carriageway should have had a bridge at the time of construction, but at the time it was considered unaffordable

Local MP Kris Hopkins launched a petition in favour of a bridge, and as reported on Drystone Radio a couple of weeks ago, was joined at the site by government Minister Andrew Jones to illustrate the dangers posed

He says it’s clear to everyone who uses the crossing that it is dangerous and changes are required.
