Man From Keighley Ordered To Sign The Sex Offenders Register

A fifty year old alcoholic from Keighley has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years at Bradford Crown Court.
Martin Lyness of Westburn Avenue had pleaded guilty to inciting a nine year old girl to engage in sexual activity while playing a game of dare.
Lyness had never offended before the incident in question, but he had consumed a large quantity of cider that day.

He regularly drank more than 12 pints of cider a day, and had claimed to be so drunk he hadn’t realised what he’d done.
The little girl had informed her mother of what Lyness had asked her to do.

After being arrested and charged the defendant had made great strides in his attempts to control his drinking.
He was sentenced to a three year community order during which his alcohol dependency will be addressed
Lyness was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the community, and warned that any further offences will result in jail
