National Park Authority Secure £9,500 Grant From The Heritage Lottery Fund

And finally bird lovers in the Yorkshire Dales are hopping with delight after the National Park Authority secured a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to support a new project protecting birds in the region.

£9,500 has been awarded to the project ‘Discovering and supporting the recovery of tree sparrows in the Yorkshire Dales National Park’.

The money will be put to good use – recording the presence of sparrows -together with steps to increase the population of these delightful and much-loved birds.

The Park Authority plans to hold a number of ‘hands-on’ training sessions.

These will help local people with bird feeders and nest boxes and allow demonstration of best practice with the aim of developing the most suitable habitats for our two-legged friends.
